Cento – Collecting Cobwebs, Gathering Brambles

Since that first awakening
The brightening horizon
In harmony with wind and waves;
Our souls cry out to the four winds.
Since that first awakening
You may wonder who I am
Trapped between two electric lines;
The very image of the god himself;
Is heaven strewn with litter?
Since that first awakening
There’s a skittering of snow on the roof tops;
Wait till it ebbed away –
The brightening horizon.
Since that first awakening
Skeletal fingers scrabble at the air
Gathering in the cobwebs like a skein of silk
The fronds and ferns of filigree
In harmony with wind and waves.
Since that first awakening
Our souls cry out to the four winds –
Is heaven strewn with litter?
