Wednesday Words – Chapter Two

Here is an excerpt from Chapter Two of my novel Dragonscale Leggings
I tore my eyes away from the symbol and turned back to look at the knight. Too late I noticed Tygar stretching out his head towards the ruined leggings. Agravaine squealed as Tygar’s teeth flashed dangerously close to his backside and quickly strode off into the trees. Tygar trotted after him, making me bounce on his uncomfortable back. The path reached a stream and crossed it by means of a little wooden bridge. The sun had disappeared but the sky between the tree branches had that pale, luminosity about it that indicated midsummer. The forest was deciduous with a fair sprinkling of oak, beech and ash. The air smelt warm and leafy and bird song echoed all around…
