Wednesday Words – Chapter Four

Here is an excerpt from Chapter Four of my novel Dragonscale Leggings
Tygar and I wandered through the forest, going slowly as it was so hot and stuffy. I felt a sense of relief as we left Cedar Village behind us. No more magi and no more Agravaine. I let Tygar choose a the path and soon we crossed a swiftly running stream. A smithy was situated on the other side of the water and standing outside, watching our progress, was the uncouth Smith. He hailed me and I stopped Tygar reluctantly. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be called an old hag again.
“Alun tells me you say you’re a dragon slayer,” he grinned. “Is that true?”
“It might be,” I answered him primly. “Why?”
“I always knew my true love would be a dragon slayer, that way she couldn’t be a dragon herself!” and he fell about laughing.
Tygar snorted in disgust and I ordered my steed to walk on…
