Wednesday Words – Chapter Five

Here is an excerpt from Chapter Five of my novel Dragonscale Leggings
He darted towards me and I skipped to my left, feeling sticks and leaves crunch underfoot. The knight then shifted his sword to his left hand and feinted towards me so I had to scurry to my right. He laughed and I felt tears prick in my eyes. My anger had been short lived and I couldn’t summon up the rage that had consumed me a few moments ago. I realised he was tiring me out and wouldn’t have to wait very long before I was forced to drop my weapon. He kept me skipping from side to side for a few minutes before I charged at him in desperation. A dead branch lying hidden beneath the leaf mould tripped me up and I fell flat on my face, the peeler rolling away from me. I heard Agravaine chuckling to himself as he stepped towards me…
