Escape Pod Emulation – Claudia Messelodi

I am pleased to welcome Claudia Messelodi, a poet from Italy to her EPod this month! What does a poet take with her when the Mothership is under attack? Find out more about the back story at Escape Pod Emulation! Now I’m handing over to Claudia to let her tell you what she would take with her …
If I was in a spaceship that came under attack, I would take to my escape pod the following items: –
A pocket notebook and a pencil that I would use to jot down thoughts, insights, emotions as well as experiences I would surely have in space.
A book of poetry and a historical novel that would certainly bear me good company, in order to nourish my mind and soul, to get new and endless sources of inspiration, to keep my imagination alive, to live parallel stories and explore different dimensions.

The woollen pullover my mother handknitted for me when I was still a teenager, which would provide the necessary warmth and make me feel cuddled and less lonely.
The silver necklace with the names of my children on it, which I was gifted with on Mother’s Day. It would make me feel near them despite being so far away; moreover it would give me hope to see them soon and make me stronger and more confident whenever I might feel somewhat melancholic.
A clip on book reading light as an emergency tool in case a blackout occurs at night while I am getting so hooked by the book I am curling up with that I feel I definitely cannot give it up.

You can buy Claudia’s poetry collections by emailing her at claudia.messelodi@gmail.com.
Claudia Messelodi has written six poetry collections so far. Blue Moon is the one she is most fond of. It was released in 2016 and contains both free verse poems and short form poetry such as haiku, tanka and elfje. Blue Moon is a poetic palette fraught with chromatic atmospheres and imagery conveyed through fluid and harmonious words. An enchanting blanket of inks.
