Beta Readers

If you have 3 – 3.5 hours spare between 1st February and 30th April, would you consider reading one of my draft manuscripts?

I’m currently working on The Kaerling series and each volume is between 30,000 and 35,000 words long. I would only expect each Beta Reader to read just one book per year. You need to be fluent in English (American or British) and able to answer 5 or 6 questions about the manuscript I send you on or before the deadline for feedback.

How It Works

Between 1st February and 31st March I contact all my Beta Readers and ask them if they’re available to read one volume of The Kaerling. When I hear back from the readers, I send out one volume to each person. If I don’t hear back from you after the first request, I may well ask you if you’re available to read the second or third volume whenever they’re ready. The deadline for feedback on each volume is usually 4-6 weeks.

Please also include the following text. Complete the blanks with your own name.

As a Beta Reader I (YOUR NAME) agree to let Freya know whether or not I can read her manuscript by the deadline and when I receive the manuscript I will provide her with the feedback required on or before the deadline. I understand that this is a voluntary role and that Freya cannot compensate me for the time spent reading her manuscript or providing feedback to her. I agree not to make her manuscript/s public or to sell or pass on any part of her work at any time. I agree to keep her manuscript safe whilst reading it and to delete it once I have provided feedback to Freya. I agree to allow Freya to contact me before the final manuscript is published and agree to help her promote said manuscript on social media or similar on the release date.
