November Catch Up

18 November, 2021

A mega thank you to Editor Susi Bocks for nominating my poem, Sailing, for The Pushcart Prize! Wow! I am overwhelmed! You can read my poem and find out about Pushcart by clicking on the links.

A huge thank you to Swords & Sorcery Magazine for publishing my short story, Bladesong. If you’re into The Kaerling series, this tale will give you an insight into the dark world of the First Age of Nirunen and of the horrors the ancient heroes had to face.

And a big thank you to Cold Moon Journal for publishing my haiku about the ocean recently!

Thank you also to Spillwords for publishing my poem, Bite Me, recently. This is a vampire poem with a difference; can you tell which one is the victim and which is the predator?

And thank you too to Luna for publishing my poem, Mist, back in September. This poem portrays a scene from my latest book, Uneasy Allies.

Have you bought your copy of Uneasy Allies yet? It’s the latest volume in The Kaerling series. If you have already read it and enjoyed it, I would love it if you could leave a one line comment about why you liked it at the store you purchased it from!

Pure Haiku closed to submissions on 31st October on the theme of Ghostlight. I’m in the process of selecting the haiku to be published at Pure Haiku between 1st January and 31st March 2022.

My Patreon supporters have been reading my tales about Kirri and Ebkah, two heroes from the First Age of Nirunen, and they’ve also been receiving my unique poetry postcards every month, painted and written by me! If you’d like to get more of a glimpse into the mysterious world of Nirunen as well as helping me promote my books, please consider donating on my Patreon profile!

My Newsletter readers have received three character studies this year as well as poetry and a story. The third and final part of my serialised story, Resurrection, will be available in December.

I’ll be making some changes to my Newsletter and this blog in 2022 so watch this space and I’ll explain more in January next year!

That’s all for now, as I’ve been busy writing volumes 10 – 12 of The Kaerling recently – 89,000 words in October. Who needs Nanowrimo?!!!

I’ll be back next week with my final post of the year and a new book cover reveal. See you then!

Catch Up – Freya’s writing is online!

8 June, 2020

Due to the lockdown, I’ve had more time, not just to write, but to send stories and poetry out to magazines. Result – I’ve had a few bits and pieces published recently!

I do try to re-blog online publication posts, depending on how much is happening on this blog. So, in case you missed the re-blogs, or, I wasn’t able to re-blog due to launching The Butterfly Tree etc, here’s a quick catch up for you!

Please click on the links below, and, if you like what you read, please share!

My Nonet, Terraformed, was published in March over at Festival For Poetry

This poem will eventually appear in my Arturina collection – when I get round to finishing the storyline and publishing it!

My short story, Eldr Orvar, was published in April by Swords & Sorcery Magazine

This story is about a bunch of misfits who have to work together in order to leave the city they’re trapped in.

Both I Write Her, and DreamNoirArt, have recently showcased some of my short form poetry!

And, in case you missed it, I published a short story collection, The Butterfly Tree & other stories in May and Smorgasbord Cafe featured it just recently!

I hope you enjoy reading these published pieces, and, if you like them, please share!

Only 5 days to go …

If you’ve recently signed up to my Newsletter here on this site or via MyBookCave, you’ll know what I’m talking about!

The Book Trailer is now available! Want to find out MORE?

$1.99 books

4 March, 2020

Do you like to buy cheap books?

If you do, I have some excellent books that I’ve published myself. Each of the books featured in this post costs just $1.99 / £1.99 or less.

The Essence of Thyme

The Rusalka Ritual & Other Stories

Xmas @ Camelot II

Insides

My Mythology

Silver Fire

Ambassador

An Ancient Song

Olin Heon

If you enjoy reading my posts, I would love it if you could buy just one of my books today. These are the cheap ones. There are more expensive ones (up to $5.99 / £5.99) which you can read about at My Books.

Just because they’re cheap does not mean they’re rubbish. Each of my books is unique and different. I don’t write to a formula. I write from my imagination. If you like quirky and off-the-wall, you’ll enjoy my writing.

Go on! Give these books a go. They’re not going to break the bank! The Kaerling e-volumes are currently 99c – until 1st May 2020! (They’ll be going up to $1.99 in May!)

And, if you enjoy my writing, please leave a positive online review!

Much love

Escape Pod Emulation for Isabel Caves

4 June, 2018

Welcome once more to my Escape Pod Interview series. If you’re not familiar with this kind of post, please read the back story at Escape Pod Emulation!
Whose in the Escape Pod today? Well, hello there! It’s Isabel Caves!
I’m going to be the one to save my people – my 5 items will allow me to uncover the weaknesses of the strange beings who have attacked us, and devise a plan to restore peace and justice.
My Complete Guide to Alien Species – I’m going to spend every second of my escape researching the strange beings who have attacked us. They must have a weakness. I bet I’ll find it in here.
My ice cloud gun – in case any of them snuck on board. They can toggle between solid, liquid and gaseous phases. In their gaseous form they can spread thin enough to be invisible. A cloud of ice should knock them back down to a more visible state.

An electronic journal – I’ll put all my research notes in here. If anything happens to me someone else can pick up where I left off.
A charger – to make sure the journal doesn’t run out of power.
And a stress ball – because boy, am I going to need it.

Isabel Caves loves fantasy and all things magic, as well as ghost stories and sci fi. She publishes literary pieces too and her mind is always cooking up new stories …
